What the heck is Sage? Sage was the level 90+ player ability to broadcast your thoughts to the entire kingdom. Now, it is called Share Wisdom and still available at level 90.. To learn more about the shift from Sage to Share wisdom, please read the history of sage in the next few paragraphs. The Wisdom of a Sage Many people where not around when the history of sage began, so I'll start off with a short history of what "Sage" was and how it got its name. Sage, which was originally the mage name for the spell, was one of four spells available in Beta and 3.0 Nexus. The names for the other three paths were - Hierophant for Poets, Prince Charming for Rogues, and Champion for Warriors. Sage became the general term for them all, mostly because there was an overwhelming number of mages in the kingdom, but also because it was the shortest name of them all. So for the remainder of this history we will refer to the various spells as they are collectively referred to by the community. In Beta and the start of 3.0, Sage had no aethers. People used to hold auctions, tell stories, and much else over sage. As the kingdom grew, short aethers were added to the ability to sage in the kingdoms. During the reign of the God Grin, sage began to be heavily abused over time. That is when the aethers became extremely heavy. Upon the upgrade to version 4.0, Grin made sage only available in the Mythic Nexus. It wasn't until the reign of the God Kismet that we saw Sage taken away. It began with a small warning system. People were given one sage warning. If they did not take this seriously and abused sage again, they lost it for good. Kismet debated removing sage forever, but extreme pressure from the community encouraged him to keep the spell and to have those who abused it lose it forever. Also notable, the share wisdom spell has to be learned at an NPC who lives in a cave in the wilderness, instead of through your guildmaster NPC as before. This wasn't enough! Eventually the punishment for any crime, regardless of its relevance to sage, resulted in the loss of sage forever. People with criminal brands could never sage again! Then came a day of extreme abuse. Everyone was about to have sage removed because of a debate on gay rights in 4.0 Mythic. Kismet was furious. Sage was removed from everyone. The community was baffled. Silence fell over the kingdoms. Only Elders were able to sage. People didn't like this one bit. And the development of share wisdom came along. On March 13th, 2001, the system of Share Wisdom was implemented into the Nexus.
Share Wisdom is not a hard spell to understand. It has a
relatively simple pattern and should be easy enough for anyone to follow.
The system was developed so sage would not be lost forever by those who abused
it, but it was also developed to give those who were long time players a benefit
to waiting around.
![]() A player can learn Share wisdom initially at Level 90, like always. Unlike the past, every path has the same spell name "Share Wisdom". The spell can be upgraded every 90 days. It is still learned at the NPC in the wilderness for 100,000 coins per level. The coordinates for this are 126, 7. The fastest way to reach it from Northern Pass, walk down into the wilderness. Head west and cut across the mine fields. Walk to the south the Hyun Moo shrine. Walk a little further and you will see the columns that mark the cave entrance.
